Enable closed captioning while playing videos

In order to view closed captioning on Windows Media Player videos, make sure to select a video with closed captioning, which is identified by the cc-bts.jpg closed captioning icon.

Make sure to click on
cc-bts.jpg within the Media Settings under the video player or in My Preferences within Profile.

By clicking on cc-bts.jpg, you will see the closed captioning text when playing videos within your web browser.  If you click on StandAlone-bts.jpg  to view the video in standalone media player under the Media Settings, the closed captions will play within Windows Media Player.

NOTE: You will have to enable closed captioning within Windows Media Player (WMP) in order for captions to display while the video is playing.

First, open WMP, then go to Play within the menu bar and select Captions and subtitles and select On if available

Then go to Tools within the menu bar and select Options.  Within the Security tab, select Show local captions when present under Content and click on OK. Closed captioning is now enabled on your WMP.

Please note that closed captioning is only available with Windows Media Player and not Quicktime. To learn how to enable closed captioning in Quicktime using third party software, go to Closed captioning on Quicktime.
